Down and Out ...

Hey Friends,
                         I will start my blog with a very humble “thank you” for the love and support, I received for my last blog post, and it was simply overwhelming. This time around I thought that I would be writing my blog at the end of the week on some exam related topic as my exams are piling up, but after looking at some incidents taking place around me, very coincidentally a topic came to my mind and I knew it this has to be the next topic of my blog “Down and Out”.

“Down and Out” these three words can be called magical words to be sarcastically correct. There are plenty of situations in our life when we know nothing is going your way and we say these three magical words “Down and Out”. But What exactly these three words mean ?? When nothing is going your way, nothing absolutely nothing and we know whatever we do will result to something negative and more often than not we cry or mourn about the series of unfortunate events happening in our life.

The “Down and Out” times as I term it, are very obvious to come as we all know a series of happy events can’t last for a long time, same as a series of unfortunate events can’t last. The funny thing about these times are you don’t have a perfect solution because whatever you do will result into something negative and you don’t know when something will give us a positive outcome. The solution to these times is nothing but “time”. Time heals everything and will surely heal everything because time is such a key which can unlock any lock in this world. The funny part is, after coming out of these tough times, we must realize how wise we have become! We just come out of these times along with time but we are not the same person once we are out of it. It helps us to know life better and we do know the next time when we get into such situation what to do and what not if we have analyzed it perfectly that what we did at the previous outing.

The best part of these times is that, during these times a moment of laughter a moment of joy is so precious, that it might be an ordinary laugh but as it was during these times, we will remember forever. These moment of laughter or joy or when u realize something good has finally happened to you, you will immediately find yourself in tears of joy as well as anger to answer your critics who have termed you “a good for nothing” . Suppose we are seeing some football match and you know the team you are passionately supporting is losing 2-0 and the players are down out, their shoulders are down and out of the blue the team scores a goal and you see a ray of hope and in no time  what so ever you start believing that yes we can and when the team we are supporting scores a third goal and win, tears come out of the eyes of supporters as well as anger comes and we know that “down and out times” are behind us, but the main part of it was that one ray of hope brought you out of it or made u believe in the things which we had lost faith in or a ray of light will bring you out of a dark tunnel. The main part is to find that ray of hope or to create one, it is no point sitting ideally and publicizing that I am “down and out”, that won’t be doing us any good.

These are those times when sitting in a movie very coincidentally, we compare our life to the character going through a bad phase and find many similarities and while living those characters tears come out of our eyes. But the main part is it is actually a movie and a ray of hope won’t appear magically, we will have to find that ray of hope or ray of light. When you look back at those times, you will have a smile on your face thinking how immaturely we acted or how silly we were, but the thing is we can afford that laughter because a mature person has walked out of those times.

I will wrap up my article by saying that these are the times which will be our memories, which will teach us how to be mature, which will teach us how to face problems, how to face troubles in our life. We will blame some people as immature but it is not their fault, they have not faced the amount of problems you might have faced, but it doesn’t mean that they won’t be facing them, everything has a time, but it is different for different people. If you have not looked back at the “Down and Out” times, then look back and see what you were and what you are, how far you have travelled and take some tips, because those are the times when you will be at your best. I will end this article by this line

Tough times are the times that bring the best out of you, because you have a point to prove”

Your Shadow is Watching you ....

Hey Friends,
                        Finally, I am back again with yet another blog post, my college vivas and submission didn’t allow me to write, so finally completing all the boring stuff I am back to my favorite writing bussiness. This time around, I had no topic in my mind, I was very confused as well as disappointed because my writings were getting a bit too monotonous and had some crazy thoughts of closing down my blog, but I just got over all those stuff and started finding my topics and very coincidentally I asked one of my best friends Shail Parikh, to hand over his poems to me, as he is a pretty good poet, while going through his poems, my attention was suddenly grabbed by one of his poems called “Shadow” and after reading that poem, I decided to write my article on the basis of that poem. The poem was something as under :-

                              My shadow follows me wherever I go,
                             It does what I do from head to toe.
                            Whether I am holding a book or a bag;
                           It does the same that copycat.
                          Whenever I stand in light,
                         My shadow is always in sight…
                        Sometimes short and sometimes wide;
                       It always remains by my side.
                      It’s with me every time, each time,
                     Whether I do a good deed or a crime.
                    It won’t get tired whatever I do;
                   Neither will it stop, until I stop too.
                  I wish I had a living shadow;
                 With whom I could share my happiness and sorrow…

-Shail Parikh

After going through this poem, I had a funny feeling. I generally don’t read between lines but this poem made me read between the lines and suddenly occupied my mind with thoughts.
The shadow, if we carefully observe our shadow, can we find any expression..?? The answer is No, but our shadow will always follow us, will always imitate us and no matter what the situation is it will always be standing behind us. Every day morning after getting ready we take a look at ourselves in the mirror and move forward looking for a good day, but the main part is, in our free times, how many instances would there be that we are standing in front of the mirror looking at ourselves and analyzing ourselves, analyzing our life decisions, even analyzing our day …?? The answer is hardly any time.

The day we will start doing this activity that will be the day we will be catching hold 90% of our mistakes, the mere mirror image of ourselves will say thousand words without opening its mouth. The best part is, we would not look in our own eyes if we know that we have done something bad. That is something what our shadow does, it will always make you realize that somebody is watching you, the amount of good or bad work is not going unnoticed somebody in the heavens is seeing this and you will be getting the due credits or punishments.

I still remember when I was a small kid, I used to do some crazy things, once while walking on the road I tried to get rid of my shadow for fun, but I was unsuccessful. Some years later I had stolen some chocolate or a pencil from one of my friend and suddenly that evening I was walking on the road and I noticed my shadow and I suddenly tried again to get rid of it and was unsuccessful and suddenly the mere expressionless image of mine created an insecurity in me and made me realize my mistake.

As a child I always used to see the famous controversy cricketer “Sreesanth”, after bowling every ball he used to return to his run up and pump his fist talking something to himself and bowl his delivery. I made a lot of fun of his habit. Some years later, I coincidentally noticed myself doing the same thing when I was down and out, I used to talk to myself a lot sharing every feeling whether sorrow or happiness. No matter how best a friend we have, the things that we can share with ourselves can never be shared with someone else. That is where our shadow comes into the picture, it gives us a confidence that if we are doing some good work, it is not going unnoticed and there is someone in the heavens who will give u justice.

I will wrap up my post by saying that take some time of your life and stand in the mirror and analyze your life, analyze your day. If we start asking questions to ourselves, solutions will keep on coming. The day when we have answers to our questions that is the day we must look back and we will know how far we have come and how successful we are! One of my tuition sir advised me to adapt a habit in my life, which I didn’t adapt to, but was a gem of an advice. He told me that every night when I go to sleep I should just ask a question to myself saying was this day worth living ..?? and I shall have answers to my problem and I will wake up the next day wiser than the previous day. I will end this post by saying your shadow is your best friend and your own conscience is the digest where you will find solution to your life problems. I would like to share a very touching quote at the last.

You are your best friend and you are your worst enemy, its upto us to be our best friend or be our worst enemy”

The moments or feelings that teaches us the beauty of life ....!!

Hello Friends,
                            I am back with my post, this time period between my last post and current post has been longer than usual, for that my ”vacation holidays” are to be blamed ...:) . Talking about holidays the topic of my current post is the little or the huge things that teach you the importance of life.

Exactly a year back, I was on a holiday to the famous place called Malaysia. I did some crazy things over there like snorkeling, bungee jumping etc. During these activities maybe I, for the first time understood the beauty of nature, beauty of god to sum it up I would say the worth or the importance of our life.

First I will go with the snorkeling experience, we were taken to the remote island especially famous for snorkeling and underwater swimming, but as tourists we were not allowed to do underwater swimming as it required some training. We were allowed snorkeling, snorkeling basically is an adventure in which a funny instrument is fitted on our face, which has eye glasses that could see through water, our nose is tightened up, so we can’t breathe through our nose and we are given a pipe kind of thing open from one end and the other end is in our mouth through which we have to breathe. Initially I started the snorkeling and it was more of a fun with all the people around and seeing the fishes and other stuff, but after sometime I coincidentally saw a corner of the island where hardly anyone was doing snorkeling and it somehow the other felt close to sea. I went there and what I saw was simply out of this world.

I started swimming and going inside the water as I went far from the shore, more the beautiful fishes and aquatic animals I saw, more amazed I was! I tell you it was the moment to cherish for. I could actually feel that I was living each and every second of my life with my full attention and you could see the beauty of fishes going around you and small tiny bubbles under the water and suddenly you try to catch those things like a little kid and everything just moves away and suddenly, though living in this world, you are cut off from all of the thoughts and things in your mind and suddenly your mind is blank, absolutely blank and that is something which we will never experience in our day to day life not even in our deepest of sleeps. Nothing comes in your mind, no thought, no laughter, no sorrow, nothing just we are lost in the aquatic world around us, these are the moments in our life which makes us feel why life is so beautiful and why we are lucky to have it ..!!

The next experience was bungee jumping. The bungee jumping activity was actually in a theme/water park in Malaysia in which they had built a pedestrian foot bridge 21 meters above the ground and there was a small cabin kind of thing where they had bungee jumping facilities. I was very excited for bungee jumping but when I saw the price and height of the bridge and when I saw that it was built on a lake, I certainly had second thoughts. None the less I made up my mind and went through with the jump I had a tall tower to climb in order to jump and with every step I took I could sense my heart beats increasing. When I reached the place, 3 of us were doing this and I decided to go last and I saw all the preparation they did and could sense my heart beating faster. I saw all the preparations, our both legs were tied and we were attached with only one single rope tied at our feet. I saw the jumps of the 2 of my friends who were before me and the trainers had strictly advised that before taking the jump we should look straight and not down, but the 2 of my friends before me saw down and I knew their faces and how terrified they were before the jump, almost willing to quit. So finally it was my turn, a bunch of people had gathered around to see what these 3 crazy people were doing. After all the preparations I was taken to the edge of the cabin in order to jump and I took the precaution to not look down instead of looking straight, I was looking up. The trainer said open your arms and I opened up my arms feeling as if I was SRK ..:P Then he was like ready so I shouted ready and he said jump and without thinking even for a moment I jumped.

The first reaction when my jump started was I could see only water, I thought I was dead because I  felt nothing in my body was working and was screaming outrageously, but one thing I loved was, again I was blank at that moment if anyone would have asked who was I, I wouldn’t have remembered my name also, I could sense nothing, I could feel and sense each and every second of that jump and for the first time I could feel that I am living each and every second of my life, I simply forgot that I was Purvil Kamdar, I was nobody simply nobody. Finally when it got over I was back to my senses and when I analyzed my jump, I concluded that these were the moments I would literally give up everything to re-leave.

The main aim of writing my experience, was I wanted everyone to recall, that how many moments must be there in our lives that we lived in forever and how many moments that we lived every second, minute, hour of it and that defines our lives. Hardwork, money, fame etc. can make our lives wonderful but it can’t define our lives as these tiny moments or activities can. Search for these moments and live those moments because in the end nothing is going to count except for these moments, they are life defining moments or moments which can change your life completely, which can change our mentality and change the way we look at our lives, these moments certainly did it for me, find your moments that defines your life. I would end this post on this beautiful saying:-

“It is not important how many moments you lived in your life
It is important how many lives you lived in each moment”
