Nostalgia.... The word says it all ..!!

Hey Friends,
I am finally back to blogging after a long long break.  Due to the college exams and some weddings, I couldn’t post any new articles. Meanwhile during this period I thought a lot about my next topic, but I was clueless until two days back when this idea struck me. So finally I decided to write on this topic.

I still remember, when I was in 4th std. we used to learn a poem related to nostalgia about a boy playing piano like his father on a cold winter evening  and that time I still remember my English teacher yelling at the top of her voice that what nostalgia was ! I remembered it and thought that how is that possible how you can just get lost in your past and most importantly in memories and maybe that was my innocence that was giving me this thought and how that thought has changed over the years!

Nostalgia, the word says it all, you don’t need to find ways to be nostalgic, it just happens somehow. A song, a cold winter night anything can just take you back to nostalgia. In Ahmedabad there is a road called IIM-University road, I don’t know what is the magic of that road whenever I am riding a 2 wheeler on that road with music on, even if I don’t want it just drags me back to nostalgia and makes me remember those happy or sad incidents, happy or sad it doesn’t even matter because those are such kind of incidents which have become an unforgettable part of our lives.

Winter, according to me is the season which just makes us nostalgic more often and especially while riding a 2 wheeler or while taking a walk with music on and the overcast conditions and a cool breeze blowing past us, it just drags us back and we feel it as if it was a wind of past. Nostalgia can be remembering anything a walk with your parents, a fight with your loved one and thinking how stupid we were! Remembering happy incidents about the people you are not in contact with and suddenly we analyze that what went wrong, we were so happy and more often than not at that moment we will blame ourselves, even though everytime when we remember them, we will blame them but at that moment we will have only ourselves to blame. If at that moment any soothing song comes it just brings out the tears of joy, tears of happiness, tears of sorrow more importantly so tears of nostalgia just rolls out.

More often, the meetings when we reveal our deepest secrets with our friends are remembered more than the meetings when there were lots of moments of happiness, we all know that seeing the photographs, drags us back to that incident, but the reality is 90% of our memories are never captured and those are the memories we remember every time on a lonely day and at the end of it some just disturbs us and then we just travel back to reality and will just shrug our head and say silly me, that was an innocent past and this is the reality. Nostalgia, more often than not is the happiest and the saddest part of a student life, because it just makes us remember that silly crushes, that “ex” gf/bf, that friend we have lost and that memories which will never come back.

I wanted to write on this topic since a long time but didn’t find appropriate time to write on this, finally the winters came and I knew this was the perfect time, if you haven’t realized just realize it now, winter is the season, I will term it as a season of “nostalgia”, I will round of my article with this line :-

During these chilly winters, the colorful jackets will give warmth to your body, but the memories or nostalgia will give the much required warmth to your heart and soul”

Wishing you a warm and a Nostalgic Winter

With Love & Regards,
